Re:fresh Your Kitchen

Renovating kitchens, the hardest working room in a house, can be tough. Homeowners ask themselves if it is really worth the disruption to renovate command central. We eat (a lot it seems), do homework, chat, and even entertain in them. For our homeowners, the phrase "heart of the home" is apt -- several hallways, the sunroom room, back door, and family room all flow in and out of this one room. They took on the challenge and asked to help them re:fresh their kitchen by gutting it and installing all new cabinets, new counter-tops, and new appliances.

The final product is amazing! Here are a few of our favorite touches that take this from suburban-blah to an updated, sophisticated, and fresh new kitchen.

euro-style hood vent

Check out this hood vent-- modern and efficient The over the range microwave is switched out for a built-in variety. This absolutely transforms the cook-top from a purely utilitarian appliance to a real showstopper and makes the kitchen more open. The countertops see a complete upgrade. White on gray provides the right contrast, while the granite itself has just enough movement to add interest without competing for attention. With its beautiful neutral tones, the backsplash strikes the perfect balance all the way to the ceiling.

stainless & cappuccino

The island is quite the centerpiece. The stainless apron front sink and dishwasher make this not only a beautiful piece of furniture, but a workhorse as well. The same granite pops even more against the Cappucino finish.

all in the details

New built-in wine rack!

Drawer pulls turned vertical keeps the clean lines of the Shaker styled cabinets. Color: Moonlight.

Accent color on the island: Cappuccino

Lovely upgrades on the island -- radius counter-tops & table legs really kick it up a notch.

before & after

Totally fresh look -- gone are laminate countertops, black appliances, and old stained wood cabinets.

This family re:freshed their kitchen at the center of it all.  It no longer performs its tasks in a purely utilitarian fashion, but brings a sense of refreshment, spaciousness, quality, ease, and function. What a privilege to work on this project!
